Siwa is one of the most special places someone can visit. It’ is a place that has a kind of charm and magic that you might not find anywhere else in the world. It is an island in the desert isolated from the modern world.
Simple and peaceful is how the locals have styled their lives for so many long years.
I would describe visiting Siwa like a dreamy time travel, that becomes a kind of peaceful addiction once you put your feet in its soil and see it with your bare eyes.
Although Siwa is a small village compared to big cities, it indeed has a lot to see and experience, you can confidently call it a hidden gem in our world.
1-SALT LAKES (AL- MALLAHAT)

Those lakes are located a 15-minute drive by car from the center of Siwa. There are many of them placed in empty pieces of land. This is where the natural salt of Siwa comes from.
Get your swimsuit on and relax in the salty waters, Don’t worry if you can’t swim because the amount of salt in the water is so high that you can’t drown in there. Just beware of your eyes, don’t jump, and don’t let the water come to your face.
TIP: Prepare one or two big bottles of water before you drive to the lakes because the salt will dry on your body after swimming so you can wash your skin before leaving the place.
2- SHALI

It’s an ancient small city in the center of Siwa built with clay and salt.
No one lives inside now, but you can walk between the ruins of Shali and climb up to the top of it where you can have a mesmerizing view of the whole city.
Consider a few hours to walk between the old clay walls situated right next to the ‘Souk’, where you can buy the most beautiful souvenirs and Siwan products like natural body care.
Don’t forget to buy some dates, Siwa has one of the best kinds of dates in the world! Gifting someone you love Siwan products will be greatly appreciated as well!
3- CLEOPATRA’S POOL

The crystal clear bubbly water is over a thousand years old.
History says that Cleopatra could have taken a bath in this beautiful pool that is warm in winter and cool in the summer. The water comes naturally from inside the ground and breathes small bubbles on the water’s surface!
4- MOUNTAIN OF THE DEAD (Gabal-Al-Mawta)

This mountain holds a great and old architectural style as it is home to hundreds of tombs in its base. Old Siwans used to bury their beloved up there out of the sight of the enemies hundreds of years ago.
At the bottom of the top of the mountain lies the tomb of the famous ancient Egyptian god ‘’Amon’’. You can go inside the tomb and get blasted by the old carvings on the walls with unbelievable skill and colors that haven’t faded throughout the time of history.
5- SAFARI IN THE WESTERN DESERT

Get away from the material world for a while and discover the magic of nature’s most untouched wonders!
There you will drive in a 4×4 Land Cruiser and fly over the vast sand dunes, with an unbelievable feeling of freedom and a magical adrenaline boost!
You can spend a whole day in the desert or choose to camp overnight. There are many things to do as it’s not just an empty desert. You will find many oases in the middle of nowhere and dip yourself in the waters.
