Lebanese people are descendants of the old Phoenician population. Those are known to be the first civilization that inhabited the coast of old Lebanon mostly in the regions of : Beirut, Tyre, Byblos and Sidon.

The Phoenicians were of the very first people who build ships and sailed the Mediterranean and beyond. They were known to their skills of business and trading of goods with other nations across the ocean.

4- Purple Color Founders

Did you ever notice that the purple color is rare in nature ? In fact, the purple dye came from the old Phoenician city ”Tyre”. The old lebanese civilization extracted purple from the predatory mediterranean sea snails, and produced it in form of a dye and used to sell it for a high price to the royals of those times.

Did you ever wonder why the Lebanese flag has a tree in it? This is the famous Lebanese cedar that only grows in the mountains of Lebanon. This tree has a historical significance of long life as it lives over 1,000 years. With its special strong wood was the old temple of Solomon built. Its strong beautiful fragrance is today used in the best perfume production and is even used in some natural medicine.

6- The First Alphabet

Before the Phoenician alphabet, writing systems were often complex and consisted of many symbols and characters. The Phoenicians simplified this process by creating an alphabet with just 22 letters. Each letter represented a specific sound, making it easier to write and read, and that became the basis on which modern languages are built.
